ImageStream has a new application that not only provides training in an attractive audio and video format, but is also "smart" enough to keep track of who viewed it and which of its multiple presentation modules were completed. We developed this training and administration system in response to the increasing cost of face-to-face clinical investigator meetings.

Engaging and Consistent

A CD-ROM with Web-connected administration delivers training in a convenient, engaging format and it provides documentation for the FDA file. The study manager can monitor the progress of training at multiple study sites from the comfort of his or her own office. Users who join a study after the initial rollout receive exactly the same training as initial users. The total cost of training and administration is a fraction of the cost of staging an investigator meeting.

Easy to Navigate

A recent training program, delivered on a single CD-ROM, contains video presentations by four Clinical Research Managers and an associated, Web-connected database application for user tracking. Each training module contains a video introduction by the presenter and PowerPoint slides with voice-over narration. An easy-to-navigate menu provides user access to all of the presentations. Help screens are linked to every page to answer common questions.

What makes this program special is the behind-the-scenes administration feature - what we call "Smart Web-Connected." The application itself reports details to the Clinical Study Manager:

• Who is using the CD
• When they used it
• How much of the training is completed.
