The beautifully restored Oriental Theatre in the heart of Chicago’s theatre district was a stunning setting. Like most Broadway houses, this venue provided seating and power, but no technical facilities. It was up to ImageStream to pull together a first-rate team – including three union groups signed to the facility – and all the necessary equipment to enhance this important event.

Combining computer images with live video was a technical challenge. All equipment had backup systems – live events don’t allow a second take. Careful planning and a complicated schematic assured success.

A huge 18 by 24 foot center screen, flanked by two 10 ½ by 14 foot surfaces was used. The house left screen provided image magnification of the presenters, and graphics were shown on the right. Two converged video projectors, burning simultaneously, illuminated each screen. Should one projector fail, the show would still continue.

Extensive lighting and sound equipment was installed, and presenters were assisted by a teleprompter. The meeting was videotaped by three cameras strategically- placed on stage and in the house.

The meeting went as planned, with a very satisfied client who wrote: "Thank you very much for your usual superb job. Everything was great. First class, very professional." And the most satisfying vote of confidence: "You have the job for next year, too."
